First off, do not interact with the alert slider while you are using the browser. Secondly, this issue is only affecting the Chromum browsers, so you may opt for a non-Chromium alternative, such as Firefox. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix.
